The Cooking Cottage grew out of The Cookie Cottage, a small family-owned business that created homemade cookies for every occasion.

After taking a series of baking classes at The Culinary Institute of America, Chef Gail also wanted to share her newfound pie-making knowledge with her clients. She wanted everyone to learn how to make a buttery, flakey piecrust and delicious pie.

Since then, classes in pie baking have taken place in the home kitchen of The Cookie Cottage. At the start of 2015, we stopped baking cookies to concentrate on baking classes - - as The Cooking Cottage.

If you customarily reach for a frozen piecrust or refrigerated piecrust in your grocery store, our classes are for you. Here, you will learn the recipes and techniques to make your own buttery, flakey piecrust in a comfortable, cordial atmosphere.

Let The Cooking Cottage help you get over your "pie phobia." Through our classes, you can master the creation of every kind of pie, from apple crostata to very berry pie.

All classes are hands-on, and you take your own pie home with you, along with the recipe.

Though the Cooking Cottage has focused on pies, we plan to offer a wider selection of baking classes in the future.
